A Dairy State Delight: Wisconsin’s Breakfasts on the Farm
One of the best perks of the weekend is going out for breakfast. Usually, that means stopping by a restaurant, but if it’s spring or summertime in Wisconsin, you’ll find breakfast being served just a little bit closer to the source – on the farm!
Oh yes, this isn’t just farm-to-table: we’ve brought the table to the farm. A breakfast table piled high with eggs, pancakes, milk and more, all served by the fantastic farmers themselves. Located on various dairy farms throughout the state, these events are the perfect opportunity for your family to sample country hospitality, enjoy a great home-cooked meal and connect with the people who make America’s Dairyland the friendly, fresh and delicious place that it is.
In addition to an old-fashioned breakfast, many of the farms host live music, games, petting zoos and activities for kids to enjoy all morning long. So come on out! Here are just a few of the spots where you can join in this Dairy State tradition.
Green County Breakfast On The Farm
Enjoy your fill of eggs, sausage, coffee cake and more at the popular Green County Breakfast on the Farm every year on the last Saturday in May. You and the kids can also dance along to live music and explore agriculture equipment displays for an up-close look at farm life. There’s also a colorful craft fair to browse together.
Each year a different farm family in Green County volunteers to host the breakfast at their home for this uniquely Wisconsin event that welcomes more than 5,000 people.
Brown County Breakfast On The Farm
Brown County’s Breakfast on the Farm kicks the day of festivities off with church service before breakfast is served. As you're perusing the breakfast line, don't miss out on the delicious cinnamon rolls or some classic Wisconsin cheese curds. Stick around after breakfast to tour the farm and get up-close views of the dairy cows and the cute little calves!
Rock County Dairy Breakfast
You'll think the cows are out when arriving at Rock County's Dairy Breakfast. Their ever-popular crafty cow contest brings together local businesses, clubs and individuals to design a plywood cow - some of which even wear costumes. All of these crafty cows are "grazing" at each year's breakfast for attendees to vote on their favorite, and prizes are awarded to the crowd favorites. With delicious breakfast food, ice cream, a petting zoo and more, everyone in your group is sure to enjoy this memorable event.
Dane County Breakfast on the Farm
Dane County’s Breakfast on the Farm brings it all when it comes to celebrity appearances! While you and your crew enjoy live music and a delicious meal, meet Bessy the Dane Dairy Cow and Alice in Dairyland.
Here, you'll also explore hands-on exhibits and learn all about the dairy industry including the calves, milking area, feeding and the freestall barn where the cows are housed.
In addition to their breakfast on the farm event, Dane County hosts Cows on the Concourse the weekend before. To kick off June Dairy Month, local dairy farms bring some of their cows right down to the Capitol Square for a meet and greet where everyone is welcome.
Manitowoc County Breakfast on the Farm
Drawing more than 4,000 people annually, Manitowoc County’s Breakfast on the Farm invites you and your family to tour a local dairy farm and enjoy a home-cooked breakfast, grilled cheeses and ice cream sundaes. Children's games, a cow-shaped bounce house and more family activities will all be available, and don't miss the crowning of the Dairy Princess and Miss Farm Bureau!
Marinette County Breakfast on the Farm
Be sure to come hungry to the Marinette County Breakfast on the Farm, where they’ll be serving up pancakes, eggs, cheese curds and ice cream sundaes all morning long. Enjoy live music and the Moo-Mania comedy show, or get a farmers-eye view of the land with tractor rides.
Kenosha County Dairy Breakfast
Kenosha County makes a lively festival out of their annual dairy breakfast. And kids under six eat free! Spend the morning with your family on the farm where you'll not only be fed a big breakfast but also get an up-close view of milking demonstrations with the stars of the event: the dairy cows. Visit the Wisconsin Products Tent to pick up local goodies special to the state.
Sheboygan County Breakfast on the Farm
Meet Sheboygan County Fairest of the Fair and the Holstein Princess at Sheboygan County's Breakfast on the Farm. Bring the kids to join in on the pedal tractor pull and visit with the animals in the petting zoo. Farm tours allow you and your family to venture around and see how this year's host family runs their farm. Don't miss out on the hearty breakfast and ice cream sundaes for dessert!
Pierce County Dairy Breakfast
You don't want to miss “Dad's Belgian waffles” at Pierce County's Dairy Breakfast! Grab some deep-fried cheese curds (who says they're not breakfast food?) and check out the corn box and petting zoo for an unforgettable summer day spent with your favorite people. There will also be plenty of Culvers custard!
Shawano County Brunch on the Farm
