No there are no alligators in Leon, so how does Leon end up having Gatorfest? A USA today article talked about communities in the north having to deal with rogue alligators, Leon was mentioned as one of the communities having the issue. Community Leader Sharon Folcey contacted USA Today to have them retract the story, but they held on. Folcey and a few community leaders decided, if we're going to be known as having gators, then lets own it and Gatorfest was born! Over a decade later it has become a major event.
