EAA-155 Mother Flies Her Son

EAA

Seaplanes, warbirds and biplanes, oh my! You can see all those and more at the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) AirVenture, which lands in Oshkosh every year around late July.

Hundreds of thousands of aviation lovers and families flock to Oshkosh for the week-long fly-in convention. At this event, there are daily air shows and aircraft exhibits. Another fun attraction: watching expo participants fly their aircraft into the famous Wittman Regional Airport for the annual celebration.

Yes, many AirVenture goers know and love aviation, but the experience is for everyone. Families too can enjoy the hair-raising attractions and fun activities at this week-long Wisconsin signature event.

What to Expect

Every member of your family, from the oldest to the youngest, will encounter plenty of jaw-dropping moments during your visit. Like, for instance, when the Goodyear Blimp flies up above.

Thousands of aircraft fly into the city along Lake Winnebago for the annual tradition that began in 1953, although the gathering has grown a lot since then.

Be a part of the Wisconsin tradition and enjoy everything there is to experience at AirVenture. Watch the daily and nightly air shows, which includes fireworks. Peruse around the outdoor show areas, displaying everything from vintage planes and home-builts to the latest aircraft innovations. And for a high-flying experience, hitch a ride on a World War II bomber, just one of the aircrafts guests can pay to ride in.

While the planes and displays change each year, you can always count on seeing planes you’ve never seen or heard of before.

Dining & Accommodations

During your stay, however long, there are plenty of dining and accommodation options for you and your family.

Dozens of food and concession stands, from chain restaurants to the mom-and-pops, make a home here for the week, like The Machine Shed, which serves everything from a hearty breakfast to a fish fry.

If you plan on spending more than a day here, rest up at a nearby hotel or vacation rental. Or sleep under the stars with your family at the Camp Scholler campground near the convention grounds. Park your RV or set up a tent and spend the night bonding with your loved ones and connecting with other aviation lovers. For all your late-night cravings, there are two grocery stores on-site, as well as other amenities, including shower facilities and free Wi-Fi spots.

Come for a day or the entire week. AirVenture is an event that will leave your smile wide and your spirits high.
