As a historic district on the National Register, Monroe's Downtown Historic Courthouse Square features a diversity of antique, specialty, clothing and gift shops. There are also many restaurants and cafes to choose from around the square and nearby.  Main Street Monroe hosts events including Wine Walks and Concerts on the Square, and presents themed outdoor art exhibits every summer.
