Four Ways to Celebrate the Sweetness of Wisconsin’s Maple Syrup
Did you know there’s a maple syrup season in Wisconsin? When it’s no longer winter but not quite spring, the state’s maple trees, known as the sugar bush, let their sap start to run. This also means it’s the perfect time to celebrate the harvest of that sweet, delectable nectar.
It takes around 40 gallons of sap to make one gallon of syrup, and it’s certainly worth the effort. Wisconsinites honor the effort with festivals throughout the state that include tapping demonstrations, refreshing nature hikes and music and games for the whole family. Not only that, what’s maple syrup without pancakes? Many festivals feature a delicious pancake breakfast so you and your crew can get a taste of delicious Wisconsin-made maple syrup. Explore these events and more to celebrate the naturally tasty treat.
