Hidden Cove
Hidden Cove sits above a sandstone cliff on the shore of Lake Superior just north of Washburn. A few steps away, a hidden stairway leads to a private cove worn into the rocks — perfect for a dip in the lake or for launching a kayak!
Hidden Cove’s secluded wooded location is beautiful in every season and is an ideal spot for a quiet, restful getaway. The cottage, which was originally a retreat for the DuPont family, has two bedrooms, one bath, a living room with a wood-burning fireplace, a sunroom looking out over a spacious lawn and lakeshore, an outdoor deck and a fully-equipped kitchen. Up to 6 people can enjoy this comfortable escape. Children are welcome.
In the warmer months you can play shuffleboard, bocce ball, horseshoes, or laze around in a hammock overlooking the lake. In winter bring your snowshoes or cross-country skis, or maybe your ice-fishing gear.
Read a book, play a game with friends and family, or watch a movie on the large flat-screen TV. In the evening stargaze and enjoy a campfire above the lakeshore.
Kayakers will find the shallow cove an ideal entry for exploring the small caves along the shoreline, and may even decide to paddle to the beautiful gorge at Houghton Falls State Natural Area a couple of miles north along the shore.
