Jack Lake Cross Country Ski Trail
The Jack Lake Cross Country Ski Trail is Piston Bully groomed and tracked offering eight loops of both traditional and skate skiing. It weaves its course through changing scenery of primarily Northern Hardwood and Aspen forest types, which are typical of Langlade County. You will also see pine and spruce forests, as well as bogs and other wetlands. Glacial features of the area include terminal moraines and drumlins. The trail offers family-style cross-country skiing for all skill levels. A one-mile snowshoe loop is also available from the parking lot. The trail amenities include a parking area, restrooms, Spychalla Lodge located at the trailhead, and a warming shelter near the middle of the trails system. New in 2024, Jackalope Slope Sledding Hill. The sledding hill is accessible off of the Jack Lake Ski Trail parking lot.
Skiers must have an annual permit issued by the Langlade County Forestry, Parks, and Recreation Department or a daily use permit available at the onsite fee station.
An additional snowshoe trail is located a mile down the road from the cross-country ski trail in Langlade County's Veteran's Memorial Park. The trail meanders along three undeveloped glacier lakes, wetlands, and bogs.
Please note that when entering the trail system use caution crossing the snowmobile trail.
