Scandinavian Midsummer Celebration

Participate in activities commemorating traditional Scandinavian summer celebrations of the longer summer days. Afternoon activities include exhibits, maypole, bread sale (homemade multi-grain bread and cardamom biscuits), food, silent auction, music and bonfire. In Sweden, branches with leaves are made into roping and twined around the maypole and then it is raised for dancing around. Serving of traditional Scandinavian foods (begins at 2 p.m.) including Swedish meatballs, new potatoes, veggies, herring, and cheese and fruit for dessert. Live music from 1-4pm by a local band. Tour seven (7) historic buildings which are part of the museum and house displays that depict the history and culture of this area including school, logging, agriculture, and Co-op displays; plus a gift shop. Sponsored by the Knox Creek Heritage Center; always held on the 4th Saturday in June.
