Copper Culture State Park & Museum
Copper Culture State Park is a 45-acre park located on the north bank of the Oconto River filled with a great amount of history. A monument erected by the State Historical Society and the Oconto County Historical Society in 1952, this park contains a 7,500-year-old burial site. At one time this was considered to be the earliest evidence of human settlement in North America east of the Mississippi River. You’ll also find a pavilion, picnic areas, fishing areas, and walking/hiking trails. Enjoy the day hiking followed by a rest along the banks of the Oconto River.
There is no cost of admission to the Park. Attractions include the Copper Culture Museum and a walking trail with historical and nature signs.
A tour guide is available to give an in-depth tour if desired.
