Wisconsin Bars, Taverns & Pubs
Happy hour, or any hour really, is a time best spent with a quality beer in hand, a laid-back setting and great company.
Lucky for you, Wisconsin is home to countless bars and taverns, many of which are family-friendly, that serve up cold beer, delicious cuisine and Midwest hospitality.
Quality Food & Drinks
From sports bars to European pubs, Wisconsin has every type of venue imaginable for a memorable day and night out.
Enjoy a round (or a few) at Cafe Benelux in Milwaukee, known for its Belgian brews and homemade dishes, including pull-apart cheese bread and shrimp mac & cheese. If you start the evening festivities in La Crosse, grab a round of drinks with your friends at Bodega Brew Pub. While it’s tough choosing between the more than 400 bottled beers and drafts, every choice is a solid one. And while you’re there, order the classic hot pastrami sandwich, which pairs nicely with any brew.
Taste classic Irish drinks and fare at the “oldest operating tavern in Wisconsin” — The Monarch Public House. Located in Fountain City, the Irish-themed tavern features a restaurant, a brewery and a bar. Choose between locally-crafted porters and ales, and of course, Guinness. The food menu features a variety of Irish favorites, including shepherd's pie, and all-American dishes, like pizza.
Sports are better surrounded by friends and fans, and if you can’t make it to a game, a sports bar is the next best thing. Game days in Madison are always fun and the experience is even better at Lucky’s 1313 Brewpub. Order a craft brew and a bite to eat inside what once was a car repair shop. Its history lives on in the restored skylights and exposed brick walls.
Family-Friendly
Many of our bars and taverns offer food and drinks for the entire family.
After a day at a Wisconsin Dells waterpark, grab dinner with your family at the B-Lux Grill & Bar. Here, kids can choose from nearly every milkshake flavor, and if you’re over 21, you can add Kahlua or RumChata liqueur to the mix. As for the food, everything from the wings to the burgers is made from scratch.
Near the Twin Cities, in Chippewa Falls, enjoy the River Inn Bar known for its giant, broasted chicken wings and arcade games. And over in Dodgeville, Bob’s Bitchin’ BBQ provides all the comfort food and bar drinks you’re craving, and has an extensive kids menu featuring root beer ribs and a pulled pork slider.
Wherever you decide to enjoy a pint or two, be sure to raise a glass with your loved ones and cheers to a wonderful vacation.
