Native American Culture in Wisconsin

Native American culture is woven into the fabric of Wisconsin, and all are welcome to experience the traditions, art and attractions of the 11 Tribal Nations in our state.

Exploring Native Wisconsin brings you close to rich culture and inspiring strength and resiliency — there is so much to experience and learn.

Explore Native American History

Bring the family to any of Wisconsin’s Native American museums and cultural centers to learn the history, way of life and experiences of the land’s first people.

Spend a day at the Ojibwe Museum & Cultural Center in Lac du Flambeau to immerse yourself in the culture and history of the Ojibwe. Exhibits include canoes, traditional clothing, a trading post and Ojibwe arts and crafts. Or tour a replica longhouse, the traditional dwelling of the Oneida people, in the Oneida Nation Village just outside of Green Bay.

Celebrate Native Culture

Powwows are gatherings for Tribes to honor, preserve and celebrate their cultural heritage through music, dance and traditional clothing. If you hear of a powwow, consider yourself invited! Find upcoming powwows open to the public.
