The Taylor County Lions will be hosting their 11th Annual Maple Festival at the Simek Recreation Center. With the Sugar Maple being the Wisconsin State Tree, the celebration will focus on attributes of the Maple tree, which include Maple syrup production, Maple flavored food products, wood crafts, tourism and green space beautification. Maple syrup judging, cooking with pure Maple syrup and Maple syrup tapping techniques are just a few of the day's events. The Chequamegon National Forest abounds with Sugar Maples and Taylor County is home to many "Sugar Shacks" that process Maple syrup.  The Pancake Breakfast with Maple Syrup from 7am to 11am.  Free Maple Trees to be given away.  High Tech Redneck Display (Weather Permitting). There will be Craft & Display Exhibits from 7am-4pm.  Children's Activities: Scarvenger Hunt, Face Painting, Bike Giveaway, and Bouncy House.  Bob & Trish Juggling Act, Red Wagon Parade, Free Vision Screening with Spot Camera, Food & Beverage Stands featuring Maple flavored Root Beer Floats, Chain Saw Sculpture Demonstrations (Weather Permittong), Music throughout the Day, Sugar Bush Toars, Pedal Tractor Competition!  They will also be collecting eye glasses & hearing aids.
